India vs Afghanistan

Afghanistan just got their ODI international status as the top playing cricket team in July 2018. They are surely the minnows in the upcoming 2019 ICC world cup event. They have a talented side but they will face India which are one of the favorites to win the world cup. Indian team is well balanced and settled in all 3 departments.

Afghanistan will face off India on June 22, 2019 in Hampshire bowl, Southampton. Indian team is accustomed to the English conditions as they play bilateral series against England very often but as far as Afghanistan is concerned, they have not played much cricket on English soil so it will take time for them to get used to the conditions.

Afghanistan and India has played 2 ODI international against each other, one was won by India and the other resulted in a tie. Afghanistan is inexperienced as compared to the Indian team. Afghanistan team has a good quality spin attack in the firm of Rashid Khan and Hamza, they can bamboozle the opposition. Their pace attack however is weak cause they lack raw pace and swing and that is vital at this level. They are growing and learning as a team but this is a gradual process and it takes time. Indian on the other hand has a world class batting line up arguably the best one in the world and they have a good bowling attack to defend any sort of total that their batsman set. Apart from all that they are an excellent fielding side and fielding plays an integral part in modern day cricket in a team’s win over any opposition.

Conclusion

This match is expected to be one sided and India will win it comprehensively, India will gather the 2 points and will march on in the tournament. As far as Afghanistan team is concerned this will be a great learning curve for them, as they compete against the top ICC cricket teams in a world event, hopefully this experience will help them to grow as a cricketing team. This in return will allow Afghanistan to raise their cricketing brands standard so that they can also compete against the world class team, the goal is to play competitive cricket which Afghanistan can play if they keep on working on their cricket.
